Geography change timescale preposterous!!
Geography GCSE changes ‘rushed’
Exam boards have been accused of making major last-minute changes to geography GCSE syllabuses which could jeopardise pupils’ learning.
COMMENT
Yet another example of the shortcomings of the present GCSE system! Edexcel rush through changes to the Geography Specification to try and make amends for saying theirs was the easiest to pass. It is preposterous to expect schools to take these changes on board and completely overhaul their lesson structure for a fundamentally new Specification in just six weeks!
Unify the system, have only one examining body so that problems of this kind will never occur and standards can be clearly monitored and kept where they should be – High. We need to move away from a ‘passing’ culture towards teaching and learning.
